LA GRANDE MARE JUNIOR AUGUST COMPETITION - Wins for Chloe Gaudion, Jack and Theo
The Junior Competitions are coming thick and fast and with valuable Ray Lowe Order of Merit Points up for grabs each event takes on more significance.
Chloe Gaudion put herself right in the mix with a superb round on Monday to take the win in the under 28 handicap category and with it ten valuable order of Merit points. Chloe is without question one of our most talented Juniors and she really went through the gears. After a birdie at the second she never looked back and finished with a superb 41 points. She is now playing off 14 and no doubt eyeing single figures in the not too distant future. Daniel Troop was runner up with an excellent round of 40 points which included nine pars and a brilliant birdie at the 16th. Rory Mckenna will be pleased with his days work shooting level par 32 on the back nine.
In the over 28 handicap category newcomer Jack Migasiuk made it two wins out of two with another stunning performance with 46 points following his extraordinary 51 points last week. Oliver Farmer continues to impress and was runner up with 39 points.
In the blue tee competition both players excelled themselves. La Grande Mare is a tough course at the best of times but the challenge for our youngest players is particularly demanding with tough carries on many of the holes. Theo Hollyer-Hill came out on top with a round of the highest quality with 21 points, Anton Swale was also under par.
Next up we are back at L’ancresse on Sunday for the Valentine Trophy and St Davids Cup.

Chloe Domaille clinches Junior Girls title at fourth extra hole
The Saffery Champness Girls Championship proved to be a thriller. Played in difficult conditions at Lancresse Links, Chloe Gaudion made a fast start going three up after the first three holes. Chloe Domaille remained calm and set about reducing the arrears. Holes were traded and at the turn Chloe Gaudion was two up. The lead remained until 16th when a par by Chloe Domaille tied up the match. Both players had opportunities on the final two holes to go ahead but two pars on 18 took the match to extra holes. The first three extra holes couldn’t split the girls. The tee shot on the fourth hole proved decisive. Chloe Domaille hit a great drive down the middle, however Chloe Gaudion found the gorse and the resulting drop proved the difference.
Congratulations to both girls for a fantastic match that is a credit to junior golf.

LGM May Day Competition - Wins for Tanner, Jack and Anton
The rescheduled May Day Competition took place on a lovely day on the West Coast.
In the white tee competition Tanner Austin topped the leaderboard with 40 points narrowly edging out Ollie Parsons on countback. Tanner was one under gross on the back nine until a bogey on the 17th halted his charge but he came back strongly with a par on the last.
The red tee competition featured an extraordinary round for Jack Migasiuk. On another day runner up Thomas Chamberlain’s 37 points would have been good enough for for the win but incredibly Jack scored 51 points and an eight shot handicap reduction in the process.
In the blue tee competition Anton Swale ran out the winner with a brilliant 25 points and another consistent display from Lewis O’Brien gave him the runner up spot.
Next up we are back at La Grande Mare on Monday 24th August for another Junior Comp - Entries Open now.

Boys Island Championship Final produces golf of the highest quality
Ollie Chedhomme and Rory Mckenna contested a final of such quality that could easily have been the Mens Final. Both boys came through their semi finals with 5 and 4 wins against Lewis Marley and Daniel Troop respectively.
The much anticipated match was very tight with the lead changing hands a number of times. There was never more than a hole between the two Hampshire Under 16s players. They came off the 12th all square and proceeded to par the next 4 holes. Ollie made a decisive putt on 17 to birdie from around 18 ft that proved to be the match winner when the boys halved on 18.
Both boys played fantastically well and highlighted the quality at the junior level.
