Shay Goddard’s outstanding debut season got even better when he shot a brilliant 76 (nett 64) to win his first men’s competition, the prestigious Centenary trophy yesterday. It was a major milestone for Shay breaking 80 for the first time in competition, all the more extraordinary as he has only been playing golf for just a few months. Shay’s round featured 11 pars and he was out in 39 and back in 37 with a birdie at the 16th.
This super talented young sportsman has been a fantastic addition to his new sport, both as a popular junior member and as part of the green keeping team. Many congratulations to him on his brilliant win , we are all very proud of his amazing achievements - next stop single figures!
