TANNER SHINES IN CANTERBURY

Tanner Austin enjoyed a great day at the Canterbury GC Junior Open yesterday finishing second in the scratch and 5th overall in a field of 47 players from the South East and London. The Par 71 Harry Colt designed course is an absolute stunner and provided a stern test with big changes in elevation requiring accuracy off the tee and tough undulating greens. Playing the course for the first time, Tanner plotted his way round the front nine and was one over at the turn. A double bogey at the 10th and a run of bogeys threatened to de-rail his round but he showed great resilience finishing eagle, par, and then holing a bomb for birdie on the 18th in front of a packed clubhouse. His 74 (+3) was Tanner’s best result in the UK to date and followed 5th place in the Ifield Junior Open in Sussex the day before and 6th in the Ham Manor Junior Open on Sunday.
