Royal Guernsey News: FRANK BARNES CUP - ROYAL GUERNSEY RETAIN THE TROPHY IN A BRILLIANT CONTEST

The annual RGGC v RGGC Juniors match was contested in scorching conditions this afternoon. The match was halved which meant RGGC retain the trophy.

In the first match Club Captain Peter Radford & Craig Webb beat Junior Captain Chloe Domaille & Lewis Marley 3&2. In the second match James Falla & Dad Graeme defeated Jayden Tucknott & Jamie Trebert 4&2.

In the last two groups the golf from the Juniors was of the very highest quality. Conor Mckenna & Tanner Austin dovetailed nicely beating Tom Le Huray & Jim Cobb 4&3. The match was all square after nine but Conor & Tanner stepped it up a gear on the back nine with some excellent golf.

Meanwhile in the last group there were fireworks from Ollie Chedhomme & Alex Mills beating Roland Mills & Jez Nicolle 5&3. Ollie had a blistering front nine carding 5 birdies and he was out in 33. Alex was playing beautifully making an excellent birdie on the 7th and hitting fairways and greens with metronomic regularity. His highlights including a stunning 4 iron to 10 feet on the 12th and a spectacular second shot on the 15th that shaved the hole to close out the match. Roland & Jez were a very respectable 4 under better ball when they shook hands on the 15th, unfortunately for them Alex & Ollie were 12 under nett!

A huge thank you to Skipper Tom Le Huray and his team for a fantastic afternoon of golf enjoyed by everyone. It was great to see three Island players in the men’s team. Challenging the Juniors against some of the very best is great for their development and at the same time it gives the opportunity for the men’s team to get a glimpse of the production line of Junior talent which continues to impress.
