REDHEAD CLARET JUG - BRILLIANT WIN FOR LEWIS & RORY SHOOTS 68 GROSS

Lewis Marley shot the round of his career to date with a stunning 76 gross for 42 points to win the Redhead Claret Jug today. The round represented a major milestone for Lewis as it was the first time he has gone sub 80 in competition at L’ancresse. He had ten pars in total, and was out in 38 with a birdie on the 6th. He then proceeded to birdie the 11th and 14th to come back in 36. Lewis, a multiple winner in Junior Golf in recent years, also created a little bit of history in becoming the first Junior to win a major competition since the club allowed juniors with handicaps of 12 and under to win men’s competitions.

In third place also with 42 points was Rory Mckenna who has been in fantastic form this season. The Island Junior Boys Champion won the scratch prize with a brilliant round of 68 gross. Rory produced golf of the very highest quality with birdies on five of the first ten holes. He was out in 33 and back in 35. The round also represented a milestone for Rory as it was the first time he has gone sub 70 in a stroke play round in competition on his home course. Based on his recent form it was only a matter of time but to do it in such style simply underlines his class.

Congratulations to Lewis and Rory on your outstanding rounds - another fantastic day for Junior Golf!
