On Sunday the white tee players played for the inaugural Reuben Mahy Trophy. Reuben Mahy was a Guernsey Golfing great. A three time Island Champion and one of only two Guernseymen to ever win the Hampshire men’s title, he was a keen supporter of Junior golf and the club was delighted to be able to honour his legacy with a trophy in his name.
Lewis Marley made it back to back wins with another excellent display. He made birdies at the first, sixth and seventeenth for 36 points and his back nine was just enough to pip Ollie Parsons on countback. The win sent him to the top of the leaderboard in The Ray Lowe Order of Merit and with two events left it promises to be a fascinating end to the season with a number of players in the hunt.
In the red tee Cincinatti Cup, Alex Mills ran out the winner with another top quality performance. His round of 87 gross for 39 points featured a brilliant birdie at the 15th as he came back in 41. His handicap is now down to 17.
Lewis Blondel had a great day and was unfortunate just to miss out on the trophy with Alex just beating him on countback. A two shot handicap reduction will have provided some consolation. Gus Carre was also under par with an excellent 37 points.
In the blue tee competition it was a long overdue victory for Lewis O’Brien who has had a wonderful season. He started with a par on the first which set him up for the rest of the round. The win was a great reward the consistency of one our brightest young talents. Theo Hollyer-Hill was in the mix again in second place.
Next up we have the Boys and Girls Club Championships on Sunday 11th October followed by the penultimate order of merit event at La Grande Mare on the 18th.
