LA GRANDE MARE CANDY CUP - WINS FOR CONOR & LEWIS O’BRIEN
Conditions were perfect on the west coast for the the penultimate competition in the Ray Lowe Sporting Foundation Order of Merit.
In the white tee competition Conor Mckenna notched up his 5th win of the season with a classy performance shooting a superb 67 gross for 37 points. His round featured 8 pars and 4 birdies and he was out in 35 and back in 32. Conor now holds a seven point lead over Jayden Tucknott in the order of merit with the final event of the season next month. Runner up was fellow Hampshire player James Troop who shot a very handy 74 gross for 36 points which featured 9 pars.
In the red tee competition another Hampshire Junior took the honours with young Lewis O’Brien chalking up his third win of the season. Lewis scored 38 points and the highlights of his round included pars at the second and tricky eighth hole. Runner up was Thomas Chamberlain for the eighth time this season. He has been very unfortunate not to win yet this year however his brilliant consistency highlights the quality of his play and he is very much in the hunt to contend for the order of merit title in the big season finale next month.
So now it’s all to play for as we return to La Grande Mare on the 7th November when the order of merit champions will be crowned.
