Ray Lowe Order of Merit comes to a thrilling end

The Inaugural Ray Lowe Order of Merit came to a thrilling conclusion with the result being in doubt until the final green of the final round. The competition has been played over 17 qualifying events at three different courses. Over 30 juniors have competed in the Order of Merit this year and many have seen their Handicap tumble.

Going into the final round, Hampshire junior players, Ollie Chedhomme and Conor McKenna were tied on 72 points. Only an exceptional round of 41 Stableford points from 4 handicap Ollie held off the challange of Conor by a single point. Both had exceptional seasons with Ollie having five wins during the season compared to Conor with four. Third place was taken by James Troop with 66 points and three wins over the year.

in the category for juniors who started the season with a handicaps above 28, two girls had standout years. Chloe Gaudion and Chloe Domaille finished first and second with seven wins in the season between them, and with Jenny Ballay also winning three times this year it has been a stellar season for the girls. However, they were pushed hard throughout by Tom Chamberlain who finished the season with 68 points to gain third spot.

LGM End of Season Competition

With the recent levels of rainfall it is great credit to the Greenkeepers that the competition went ahead and the good conditions were reflected in the scoring.

The standout performance of the day was by Ollie Chedhomme. Ollie shot 3 birdies and 13 pars on his way to 41 points winning the day and the season long Ray Lowe Order of Merit. Jenny Ballays’ good form continues with a 39 point second place and Daniel Troop came third on count back from Max Raffray and Conor McKenna with 35 points.

In the Handicaps above 28 competition, Alexander Mills saw his handicap reduced again with a winning 39 points. Thomas Chamberlain and Lily McNeela both scored a very respectable 33 points with with Thomas finishing second on countback.

The blue tee competition was keenly contested. The top 3 all played beyond their handicap in their 9 hole competition. Lewis Blondel and Theo Hollyer-Hill both scored 22 points with Lewis just edging it on countback. Josh Neville was only one point behind the leaders and secured third place.

Jenny comes out on top in close LGM Candy Cup

Jenny Ballay came out on top at the the LGM Candy Cup with an excellent 39 points. Jenny won by a single point holding off Daniel Troop and Ollie Chedhomme with Dan taking second on countback. The Under 28 Handicap Order of Merit will go down to the wire with Ollie Chedhomme and Conor Mckenna tied on 72 points. The final competition of the season will be played on 10th November.

In the over 28 handicap competition Thomas Chamberlain continued his excellent season with another win. Oliver Farmer came within a point, coming second and Alexander Mills finished third.

Theo Hoyler-Hill and Joel Hoolahan will both see their handicaps reduced following great results in the Blue tee competition. Theo scored 21 points one better than Joel and Lewis Blondel finished third.

Royal win at home against LGM

Royal Guernsey scored a 2-1 victory over LGM on a blustery Sunday afternoon on the links. Match 1 had Chloe Domaille and Jenny Ballay paired against James Troop and Chloe Gaudion. The girls from the Royal played very well and came out on top 4 and 3.

Match 2 had Rory Mckenna and James Falla playing Daniel Troop and Max Raffray. The match was tight around the turn but on the second nine Rory showed his class with his team eventually winning 4 and 2

The Final match had Conor McKenna and Lewis Marley up against Ollie Chedhome and Tom Chamberlain. In a tight match LGM came out on top 2 and 1 with Ollie complementing the play of his young playing partner.

Congratulations to the Royal who take a 2-0 lead in matches this year and well done to all who braved the wind!
