MARLEY ENGRAVING & ROUSSE TROPHIES – THIRD WIN OF THE SEASON FOR ALEX MILLS & JOSH NEVILLE ON TOP AGAIN

There was a strong field in the white tee Marley Engraving Trophy on Sunday and the standard of golf was excellent again. Alex Mills was back in action after being away from the Island and picked up where he left off notching up his third win of the season with a super round of golf which featured 7 pars and a birdie at the 6th to notch up 39 points. A blip on the 11th could have proved costly but he showed great resilience to come back in 41. With 3 wins in his last 4 starts his performance was another reminder to the Hampshire U14 selectors that he is one to watch this season. Runner up was Shay Goddard with another outstanding round of golf. Shay’s handicap was reduced to 12 from 23 after his sensational debut win but he proved it was no fluke carding 9 pars as he was out in 42 and back in 40 for a brilliant 82 gross and 36 points – a truly incredible performance. In third place was Jayden Tucknott with another solid display which featured two birdies as he edged out Lewis Marley on countback. An honourable mention too to Junior Captain Rory Mckenna who made a brilliant eagle at the 14th.

In the red tee Rousse Trophy Josh Neville picked up his second win of the season, he’s been runner up twice too and is clearly a man in form. Josh made four pars and had a superb front nine going out in 45. He made a great par on the 11th and held on for victory scoring 36 points, four ahead of runner up Gus Carre. Prolific fisherman Gus had just returned from Herm where he caught a big bass the day before and he was looking to land an even bigger prize as he got off to a great start with a par on the first. He made another par on the 15th in what was an impressive display on the back nine. In third place was Chloe Domaille who made six pars shooting 88 gross for 30 points.

Next up we are back at L’ancresse on Sunday for the Cressida Priaulx and Nightingale Trophies - Deadline for entries is Thursday
