GUERNSEY BOYS AND GIRLS QUALIFIER - Golf of the highest quality on a stunning day at L’ancresse.
Conditions were superb for the DJW Prestige Vehicle Sourcing Championship qualifiers at L’ancresse this afternoon. There were four competitors in the girls event with the top two qualifying for the final on Sunday. Jennie Ballay picked the right day to have the round of her life in a quite brilliant display of golf. Her round featured 7 pars and birdies at the 4th and 15th. She was out in 41 and back in 38 for a 79 gross breaking 80 for the first time in style. Joining her in the final on Sunday will be Chloe Domaille who was delighted with her excellent round of 86. It promises to be a brilliant final.
Twelve boys competed in the Boys qualifier, an excellent turnout. With Conor and Rory Mckenna both in red hot form it was always going to be a fascinating battle to see who would come out top in qualifying. Rory shot a superb round of 73 gross which featured 9 pars and birdies at the 7th, 13th and 17th. He must have thought he had done enough to take the top spot but Conor had other ideas. Conor was out in 37 with birdies at the 3rd and 5th but crucially he hit a wonderful tee shot to 15 feet on the 18th and holed the putt for a magnificent 72 gross, a brilliant round. In third place fellow Hampshire Junior James Troop also joined the sub 80 club for the first time around L’ancresse. His well crafted 77 gross featured 9 pars and a birdie at the 12th. The final qualifier was Tanner Austin who was one shot ahead of Ollie Parsons.
The semi-final will take place tomorrow morning with top seed Conor playing Tanner and Rory playing James Troop.
The sponsors kindly provided handicap prizes and Jennie Ballay took the top spot with her incredible 11 under nett 61 ahead of Conor (nett 64), and James (Nett 65)
