The challenge for Junior Golf has always been about attracting and retaining Junior players, even more so for Junior girls. Whilst the numbers aren’t huge, in Chloe Gaudion, Chloe Domaille, Jennie Ballay and Lily Mcneela we are fortunate to have four wonderful players who will play an important role in the Junior and Women’s game in the years ahead.
All the girls have similar qualities; firstly a great love for the game but in addition plenty of talent and great work ethics.
Further evidence of this was highlighted in the Ladies Section President’s Prize today.
Lily McNeela has enjoyed some superb performances in recent weeks and had another great day today with 41 points narrowly missing the top spot on countback. With another big handicap reduction on the way this is going to be an exciting few weeks for Lily.
Chloe Gaudion is a model of consistency and is on the verge of taking her game to a whole new level. With 38 points today Chloe too will enjoy yet another handicap reduction and as with all the girls, single figures are well within reach for Guernsey’s leading Junior Girl.
Chloe Domaille continues to impress. Another great showing today for the 21 handicapper was more reward for her consistent good play.
With Jennie Ballay too enjoying a great start to the season with a big win in the Grande Mare Junior Girls Championship, this is a really exciting time for Junior Girls Golf on the Island. The Women’s development squad provides a great platform for the girls to play and improve their skills and their superb performances this season will only serve to spur each other on.
With a double header of Junior Golf this weekend and a packed schedule ahead we will be following
their progress with interest.
