The match was very tight with La Grande Mare a couple of points down to the visitors at the turn. However, on the second nine Daniel Troop scored 21 points to come in with the best score of the day with 36 points, the highlight being birdies on 13 and 14.

With the match evenly poised the team waited anxiously for the final group. Twelve year old James Troop was playing 18 year old, six foot tall George Hancock. Giving away 18 inches did not phase James and he came in with 34 points, enough to secure victory 70-68.

The team now advance to play in the Greenjackets finals day in England at Hockley GC on Tuesday 30th July.

Team captain Ollie Chedhomme said after the match, “Today went really well for the team. Its been a great experience for all and I know we all went in really desperate to win, but playing Barton on Sea proved a difficult team to beat. Coming out of the match knowing we are going to finals day is really a great feeling.”

Many congratulations to James Falla for winning his first inter club ‘Major’ , the prestigious UV trophy. Everyone associated with junior golf couldn’t be prouder of James who works incredibly hard on his game and he showed tremendous character and skill in the last round to card a 71 to finish one shot ahead of Wayne Harwood. This will surely be the first of many senior trophies for James who is in his final year of junior golf. It was also a superb week for Jamie Trebert who had an excellent day today to get right back into contention finishing in third with Rory Mckenna in fourth after a blistering weekend. James and all the juniors who entered this week have done themselves proud and we look forward to even more success this season.
